Konoe Yamamoto, 90, looks happy and content surrounded by chests, a tea table and other decades-old furniture in her cozy room.
"This, I brought with me when I got married 70 years ago," she said with a shy smile, pointing to a very old set of wooden chests.
She also has her favorite tea table and a sofa-shaped electric massager. She said she likes reading books and sitting in a room surrounded by all her old furniture and the memories they give her.
This tiny room serves as her home in a nursing home for the elderly called Kaze no Mura (Village of Breeze), in Yachimata, Chiba Prefecture.
