NAGOYA – Eight people, including yakuza leaders, were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of defrauding the Nagoya Municipal Government of about 100 million yen in disaster relief funds.
Investigators believe they obtained the interest-free loans by falsely claiming their vehicles were submerged last September when a typhoon caused widespread flooding.
