A 26-year-old Tokyo woman has been arrested on suspicion of smuggling about 345 grams of cannabis resin into Japan by swallowing the drugs, airport police and Narita customs officials said.

The authorities allege that Tomoko Noda, of Machida in western Tokyo, arrived from India with 2.75 million yen worth of resin on Aug. 2.

When a sniffer dog reacted to Noda at the customs counter, she told officers she had to go to a bathroom, where she allegedly hid the drugs in the toilet's water tank, they said Thursday, without elaborating.

The tank's top was partially open, leading to the drugs' discovery and her arrest.
