A policeman was struck and killed by a taxi on a Hiroshima prefectural highway in Hiroshima's Higashi Ward early Sunday morning after he ran into a stalled car and fell off his motorcycle.
Yusuke Yoneda, 25, a policeman with the Hiroshima Central Police Station's anti-organized crime section, is believed to have been returning home after drinking.
At about half past midnight Saturday, Yoneda crashed into a sedan that had stalled due to engine trouble and fell onto the street.
He was then fatally struck by a taxi cab, according to police.
