OSAKA -- The Osaka District Public Prosecutor's Office on Wednesday arrested a former director of Nara Medical University Hospital on suspicion of receiving bribes to recruit young doctors for the director of a private hospital here.
Investigators believe Hiroshige Nakano, 60, received more than 1 million yen in cash from Tadayoshi Fujita, 54, head of Kaiseikai Fujita Hospital, in return for recruiting young doctors to work at the latter's facility.
The investigative team has also questioned two other officials of the Nara Prefecture-run medical school, including its former president, Tadasu Tsujii, 71.
