Russian Defense Minister Igor Sergeyev will visit Japan in November to discuss Russo-Japanese defense exchanges and the security situation in Northeast Asia, Japanese Defense Agency chief Kazuo Torashima said Tuesday.
Torashima told a press conference that Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a reception Monday at the State Guesthouse in Tokyo, proposed sending Sergeyev to Japan in November.
Torashima responded that he would welcome Sergeyev’s visit.
Putin arrived in Japan on Sunday for a three-day visit.
In August last year, then Defense Agency chief Hosei Norota paid a visit to Russia and invited Sergeyev to visit Japan.
