Two strong earthquakes measuring lower 6 on the Japanese intensity scale to 7 struck the Izu Islands south of Tokyo on Friday, the Meteorological Agency said.
The first quake, estimated at 6 on the Richter scale, was monitored at around 10:52 a.m., followed by a magnitude 4.9 quake at 12:49 p.m., the agency said.
Two cars were damaged in a landslide on Kozu, while a mudflow was reported on nearby Miyake Island, police said.
