Eat your veggies for dessert in buffet
The InterContinental Yokohama Grand is collaborating with Toryu, a finalist in the buffet connoisseur competition on the TV show “TV Champion,” to offer a new buffet at the hotel’s lounge, Marine Blue, through June 27.
The first in a series of collaboration buffets, Toryu’s theme is “veggie sweets.” It features about 15 kinds of hotel-made desserts using seasonal vegetables, such as a salty tarts of dried tomatoes, cheesecakes of avocados and lime, Swiss rolls of spinach and pound cakes of burdock and sesame. Customers can try various flavor combinations they may never have tasted before.
Despite the unorthodox creations, the motto of the buffet is “It tastes good because it’s vegetables.”
The special buffet is limited to two-hour seatings from Tuesdays through Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. (last orders 7:30 p.m.) at ¥2,500, including coffee or tea, tax and a service charge.

Waffles served throughout the day
The Hotel Century Southern Tower’s South Court lounge and bar has started offering a new menu of fresh baked waffles.
The waffles are served with toppings such as a sauce of mixed berries, acacia honey and vanilla ice cream. Customers can try the various flavors as they wish.
These waffles are one of the popular breakfast items at the hotel’s Tribeks restaurant.
At South Court, the waffles are available from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for ¥1,559, which includes coffee or tea, tax and a service charge.
As reservations cannot be made at South Court, the waffles are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Shangri-La’s Turkish celebration
In commemoration of the opening of the Shangri-La’s new Bosphorus, Istanbul hotel in Turkey, the brand’s Tokyo hotel will offer a special dinner called “East meets West” at The Lobby Lounge, from May 24 to 31.
The hotel in Istanbul opened on May 11 as the second Shangri-La hotel in Europe. The new hotel is located in the financial and entertainment district of Besiktas and has views of the Bosphorus. The strait’s deep blue waters are a visible dividing line between two continents, Europe and Asia.
At the Tokyo hotel’s The Lobby Lounge customers can enjoy a luxurious dinner for ¥5,000, featuring the hotel’s original finger foods based on Turkish dishes such as yaprak sarma and ayran. The dinner comes with all-you-can-drink sparkling wines, still wines and cocktails. The special dining event is available from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. The price is subject to a service charge.
Moreover, during the fair, one lucky diner will win a pair of round-trip tickets from Japan to Istanbul with a four-day, three-night voucher for a deluxe room for two at the Shangri-La Hotel Bosphorus, Istanbul.
