Number of years in Japan (cumulative): 3 (as of November 2017)

My first encounter with Japan was when I was 18 years old. At that time, Nissan opened its first manufacturing factory in Northeast England, where I used to live. As their business presence grew, I became more aware of the influence and importance that Japan and her products had on the world.
I believe that achieving things in life, whether professionally or personally, come from every small steps we take. I also believe in chasing a vision that I set for myself, continuous learning and gaining knowledge, wherever life takes me.
I have been fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to serve as a general manager in multiple countries, spanning four different regions. Overall, the positions I loved the most surrounded me with a great job, country and, especially, people. Although I do call particular praise to Hilton Tokyo being named Asia Pacific’s best hotel, this is a reflection of my team, so I share this pride with everyone.
From a professional perspective, I aim to establish Hilton Tokyo as an ambassador hotel for our Hilton brand to have a relationship that contribute to the community here, and to make Hilton Tokyo a great place to work for all team members. On a personal level, I would like my family to have a happy and fulfilling time in Japan.
It is important to leave behind any biases of Western conceptions on what is “right” or “wrong,” or how we believe things “should” be done. I challenge everyone to listen with an open mind and question inquisitively to fathom the reasons behind others’ thoughts and actions. It is then can we truly understand and feel empathy for this country that we all currently call home.
