Being a concierge at an upscale department store can be a demanding job — especially when your clients aren’t even the same species.
Based on a two-volume manga series by Tsuchika Nishimura, “The Concierge” takes place in a department store staffed by humans but patronized by talking animals, from cats and elephants to peacocks.
The story follows Akino (Natsumi Kawaida), a concierge-in-training, as she learns the skills necessary to serve the needs of the store’s high-class, multispecies clientele. In a series of episodic tales, Akino stumbles her way through her first few days on the job while being surveilled by her floor manager, who suddenly pops out of corridors and secret passages to chide her on her service skills.
