Few vital professionals are as unheralded as exterminators, and these fearless protectors of property get their due on "Nihon Zenkoku Kujo no Tatsujin VIII" ("All-Japan Expert Exterminators Part 8"; TV Tokyo, Sun., 7:54 p.m.)
The main segment of the two-hour special is about wasps, which tend to become more aggressive during the fall. In 2012, a certain species of Asian wasp managed to migrate to the island of Tsu in Nagasaki Prefecture. This year, some of the wasps were discovered in Kyushu, so a team of exterminators are dispatched to address the problem. These professionals require a deep knowledge of wasp biology.
The program also looks at other exterminators who are dealing with different problem species, including crows, flying squirrels and raccoons.
