Actress Miho Kanno has announced she is pregnant and expects to give birth to her first child in the fall.
The 37-year-old Kanno married actor Masato Sakai, 41, in 2013. Sakai is also a noted actor and became particularly popular after he was featured in the TV drama "Hanzawa Naoki" in 2013.
"We are both happy to welcome a new family member," Kanno wrote in a blog entry posted Tuesday.
"I'd like to mentally prepare myself calmly toward the (expected) birth in fall," she wrote.
Kanno, however, didn't make clear when she plans to return to work as an actress.
"I'd like to go ahead with my work as I consult with people around me and give consideration to my health condition," she said.
Sakai also posted a message on the website of his agency.
"I'd like to keep working as an actor and a father," he wrote.
"It would be greatly appreciated if you warmly keep watching me and our family," the message read.
