Two up-and-coming electronic musicians, Matthewdavid and Anenon, are in Japan to support the local branch of Los Angeles-based, nonprofit Internet radio station Dublab and they'll tour five cities with some of this country's next big dance acts.
Having released the album "Outmind" via the Brainfeeder label, which is run by renowned artist Flying Lotus, Matthew "Matthewdavid" McQueen also cofounded Leaving Records. He's known musically for incorporating warmth into his tracks; a feat that can sometimes be tough to express through computer-based compositions.
Brian Allen Simon, also known as Anenon, runs the label Non Projects, which releases his own albums as well as those of artists such as Asura and Ana Caravelle. His endless effort to pursue music, highlighted by learning music history and theory at the University of California, Los Angeles, and a stint at dance-music finishing school Red Bull Music Academy, made it possible to share the stage with electronic-music legend Morton Subotnick and also musician Laurel Halo, whose album "Quarantine" was a critical favorite in 2012. Simon approaches electronic compositions in an experimental way, such as by successfully incorporating real instrumentation into some of his tracks.
