Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore's ("Cinema Paradiso") latest feature is a masterly crafted suspense and melodrama that touches many heart strings. A brunette called Irena (Ksenia Rappoport), probably in her 30s, arrives at an unnamed town in Italy. Irena is on a secret mission and she gets a housekeeping job working for the wealthy Adacher family, slowly building a bond with their little daughter, Tea (Clara Dossena). Constant flashbacks show Irena's haunting past as a prostitute. The mystery lies there till the unforgettable final scenes that bring love and salvation.
