Director: Curtis Hanson
The latest feature from Curtis Hanson (“L.A. Confidential” and “8 Mile”) depicts a professional poker player’s romantic life and his conflict with his father. Eric Bana plays Huck, a talented Las Vegas poker player who embarks on a love affair with Billie (Drew Barrymore), an aspiring singer. As Huck spends time with the honest and open Billie, his life begins to change. He enters the World Championship of Poker, where he must compete with his estranged father (Robert Duvall), a two-time poker champion. The casting of big names — Duvall, Bana and Barrymore — doesn’t help save a dull story.
