Boardrooms at listed Japanese companies have considerably changed over the past decade with the growing presence of outside directors.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the introduction of the Corporate Governance Code in Japan, which was designed to strengthen corporate governance at listed companies.
“It’s true that there have been positive changes and progress with corporate governance,” said Chieko Matsuda, a professor at Graduate School of Management at Tokyo Metropolitan University.
