Confectionery giants Lotte Holdings and Lotte Corporation have joined forces in a bid to tap Japan’s rapidly growing tourism industry, unveiling plans to open 20 hotels in the market by 2034.

In February, the companies established a joint venture called Lotte Hotels Japan, appointing Tomoya Fukui as representative director. On Tuesday, the group announced plans to develop hotels in major cities and tourist centers, with a target of 4,500 hotel rooms.

While the conglomerates are best known for their candies and snacks, they are seasoned hotel operators that plan to make their consumable products a part of their offering.
