To make it easier to bring about a change in government, all seats should be elected in the single-seat electoral district system.
Political parties and lawmakers should not put off trying to resolve the vote-value gap between the nation's electoral districts just because recent high court rulings on the matter have been inconclusive.
Councilors snub bill on vote gap fix
In an act of protest, the opposition-controlled House of Councilors refuses to vote on a bill to rectify the unconstitutional vote-value disparity in the House of Representatives and sends it back to the lower chamber.
The bill just passed by the Liberal Democratic Party and ally Komeito to rectify vote-value disparity between districts is no more than pseudo electoral reform.
