The terms of the Iran nuclear deal keep changing
U.S. President Barack Obama accepted an agreement in July that allowed Iran to keep in place the industrial-sized nuclear program it had built in defiance of the United Nations. This gives Iran a loaded gun with which to blackmail the rest of the world.

Push for balance can lead to a skewed view
In September, public broadcaster NHK aired a documentary that recounted the news events from the capital this summer. One of the segments focused on the continuing protests led by college students in central Tokyo against the controversial security bills the ruling Liberal Democratic Party had yet to pass. It was followed by a different one about demonstrations carried out in Shinjuku Ward by young people who supported the security bills.

Japan's masochistic approach to immigration
The Asahi Shimbun's online newsmagazine, Webronza, recently featured a conversation between former Asahi reporter Mieko Takenobu and sex-goods purveyor Minori Kitahara. They discussed the latter's brief imprisonment after being busted for displaying "salacious material" at her store associated with the controversial "vagina artist" Rokudenashiko. Most of the conversation was about the salacious material, but they also talked about jail.
