End of 'Avengers' movies cloaked in high-level Hollywood secrecy, even cast kept in dark
Walt Disney Co.'s Marvel Studios went to great lengths to keep the plot of the movie "Avengers: Endgame" under wraps until its highly anticipated debut in theaters this week, the stars and directors said in interviews.

‘Spotlight’: a beacon for investigative journalism
In 1976 the film "All the President's Men" portrayed the true story of Washington Post reporters Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward (Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford) uncovering the Watergate Scandal. It wasn't the first time in cinema that journalists took center stage, but it was one of few films that focused intently on their craft. "All the President's Men" bagged four Oscars including, aptly, best writing / screenwriting.

'Avengers: Age of Ultron' didn't need a director
How many superheroes does it take to make a movie? At this point, Marvel Studio's cinematic empire is getting so overpopulated that you'd need a spreadsheet to keep track of who everyone is. There are over a dozen comic-book characters vying for attention in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," — some who have their own standalone films and TV series to promote — and the movie barely knows what to do with them all.

Begin Again: 'Rekindling platonic love'
You know when a boy and girl meet, hit it off, but keep the relationship platonic — and it's sweet and memorable forever? This practically never happens in the movies. The last time it did (as far I can recall) was in "Once" back in 2006, directed by Ireland's John Carney.
