Toritani may have thrived in majors
Two seasons ago, when it was thought Takashi Toritani was considering a move to MLB, many of the Pacific Rim scouts coming in and out of Japan were mostly lukewarm about his MLB prospects. They may had been fooled into thinking he was on a sharp decline by a decent, but un-Toritani-like year in 2011 and a slightly worse one in 2012.

Impressive Otani to get another shot at MLB hitters
When it comes to Shohei Otani, the idea of him one day playing in the major leagues is often discussed with an assuredness that implies most believe a move to the majors is a matter of when, not if. Otani got that ball rolling himself by boldly declaring he was going to MLB straight out of high school, before being persuaded to remain in Japan and hone his skills with the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters.

Takeda comes of age with Tigers-taming performance
Shota Takeda stood at the center of a maelstrom during the sixth inning in Game 2 of the Japan Series. The Hanshin Tigers were rallying, and their fans, who in their home ballpark might be Japan's loudest on a normal day, were practically roaring at the prospect of their team, which had a runner on second, turning a one-run deficit into a tie game or, even better, an outright lead.

Tigers had right touch during final stage of CL Climax Series
The final stage of the Central League Climax Series was all about clutch plays. More so, the ones the Hanshin Tigers made at the plate and all over the field, and the stench of missed opportunity that lingered after most of the Yomiuri Giants' half-innings.

Otani may create unique challenge
Shohei Otani has proven this season that he's a talent unlike any other Japanese baseball has seen over the course of a full season. There are better hitters and better pitchers (though maybe not for long), but no one who can do both simultaneously as well as Otani has for the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters this year. Considering just how well he's done, that statement might stretch across the ocean to the major leagues as well.

Tigers face annual 'road trip of death' in midst of CL race
Should the Hanshin Tigers be worried about the "road trip of death?" Sure, it sounds ominous, as do most things when you tack "of death" onto the end, but it's not nearly as bad as in the past. Either way, the team has to face it now.
