Shohei Ohtani launched his 49th home run of the season, Teoscar Hernandez and Ben Rortvedt contributed two-RBI doubles in a six-run fifth inning and a classic pitching matchup of Clayton Kershaw against Logan Webb turned into a slugfest as the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers outlasted the San Francisco Giants 13-7 on Saturday night.
Kershaw was bombed for four runs in three innings and Webb for six runs in four-plus frames in a game that saw the Dodgers (83-65) retain their 2½-game lead over the San Diego Padres atop the National League West, while the Giants (75-73) missed out on an opportunity to move past the New York Mets in the NL wild-card race.
After the Giants countered a Dodgers tally in the top of the inning with four runs in the last of the first, a majority of the night's fireworks were shot off by the visitors, who totaled 17 hits.
