Lefty Yamakita moves to Yokohama in 1-for-2 trade

Lotte Marines lefty Shigetoshi Yamakita will move to the Yokohama BayStars in a 1-for-2 trade for right-hander Ryotaro Doi and outfielder Ryusuke Minami, officials of both clubs said Thursday.

Yamakita, who has a career record of 4-4 in 134 games, joined the Chunichi Dragons in 2000 and started playing for the Marines last season.

Doi joined the Yokohama BayStars in 2003 under a pre-draft arrangement in which collegiate and corporate league players are allowed to name teams they wish to play for. He has a 1-5 record.

Yokohama had been on the market for a left-handed pitcher while Lotte had been in search of a right-handed sidearmer and an outfielder with strong defense skills.
