Former Japan striker Takafumi Ogura has announced his retirement after a 14-year professional playing career, officials of his J. League first-division club Ventforet Kofu said Friday.

The 32-year-old Ogura joined Nagoya Grampus Eight out of high school in 1992 and had spells with JEF United Ichihara, now JEF United Chiba, and Tokyo Verdy before joining Kofu in 2003.

Ogura scored 34 goals in 166 appearances in the first division and netted 18 times in 75 matches in J-2.

Kofu won promotion to the first division after defeating Kashiwa Reysol in a two-leg playoff in December.
