Japan beat Portugal for the second time in as many days Sunday but finished at the bottom of the group standings in the men's volleyball World League preliminary round.

Yu Koshikawa had a game-high 20 points and Masaji Ogino added 14 points in a 25-21, 25-22, 31-29 straight-sets win at Yoyogi national gymnasium as the Japanese side wrapped up its Group A schedule with two wins and 10 losses.

Japan, which ended a 22-game losing streak dating back to last year with a come-from-behind victory over Portugal (6-6) on Saturday, failed to advance to the next stage.
