Asami Tanno and Miho Sugimori claimed their second straight titles with record-breaking runs while high school runner Yuzo Kanemaru won the men’s 400 meters at the national track and field championships Sunday.
Tanno broke her own national record by 0.95 to win the women’s 400 meters in 51.93 seconds shortly before Sugimori bettered her mark by 0.01 to successfully defend her 800-meter crown in 2:00.45 at National Stadium.
