Yahoo Japan Corp. said Friday the company has officially purchased the naming rights to the home stadium of the Softbank Hawks in Fukuoka, formerly known as the Fukuoka Dome.
Yahoo signed the five-year, 2.5 billion yen deal, which also includes billboard advertisements, and renamed the ballpark Fukuoka Yahoo Japan Dome. Yahoo Japan, an Internet service provider, is a subsidiary of Softbank Corp., which purchased the Hawks professional baseball team from debt-ridden retail giant Daiei Inc. in November.
