U.S.-based Shigeki Maruyama and JGTO money title holder Shingo Katayama will head the Japanese team taking on the Rest of Asia side at the Dynasty Cup in April, the Japan Golf Tour Organization said Monday.

Nonplaying captain Isao Aoki named Maruyama and Toshimitsu Izawa as captain’s picks as they team up with 10 other Japanese players selected on the basis of last year’s JGTO money rankings for the April 15-17 competition in Shenzhen, China.

Hideto Tanihara, who finished seventh on the 2004 money list, was left out of the team due to his playing schedule on the U.S. PGA Tour.

In the inaugural Dynasty Cup, a tournament similar to the Ryder Cup between the U.S. and European teams, the Rest of Asia beat Japan 16 1/2-7 1/2 at the same venue two years ago.

The remaining members on the Japanese team are Toru Taniguchi, Takashi Kamiyama, Hideki Kase, Keiichiro Fukabori, Tomohiro Kondo, Tetsuji Hiratsuka, Ryoken Kawagishi, Toru Suzuki and Hiroyuki Fujita.
