Venus Williams and Ai Sugiyama will be among the top seeds competing at next year's Toray Pan Pacific Open, the sponsor said Wednesday.
Toray defending champion Lindsay Davenport will aim for her second consecutive title and Jennifer Capriati will compete at the tournament for the first time in 12 years.
Yuka Yoshida, who won the women's national singles championship last month, has received a sponsor's invitation to compete at the Feb. 3-8 meet at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. A total of $1.3 million in prize money will be on offer.
