Hanshin lefty Kei Igawa won his sixth straight decision, tossing a six-hitter for his first shutout of the year as the Central League-leading Tigers downed the Hiroshima Carp 7-0 at Osaka Dome on Wednesday.

Igawa (9-3) went the distance on 150 pitches, walking three and striking out five for his CL-leading ninth victory as the Tigers extended their winning streak to six games — their longest this season.

The Tigers scored three runs in the third inning on RBI hits by Makoto Imaoka, Norihiro Akahoshi and Shinjiro Hiyama.

In the fourth, Atsushi Fujimoto singled home two runs and Imaoka hit a sacrifice fly to put Hanshin up 6-0.

Tomoaki Kanemoto wrapped up the scoring with an RBI single in the seventh.

Hiroshima lost its fourth straight game against Hanshin.

Giants 7, BayStars 6

Yomiuri scored the game-winning run when pinch-hitter Shunsuke Hara was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth as the Giants beat Yokohama at Tokyo Dome.

The BayStars took a 6-5 lead in the top of the ninth with Hitoshi Tamura’s two-run homer off Yomiuri reliever Yukinaga Maeda (3-0), but in the bottom of the inning, the Giants loaded the bases before pinch-hitter Koji Goto swatted an RBI single for the game-tying run.

Still with none out, Yokohama reliever Masao Morinaka hit followup batter Hara with his first pitch, allowing Yomiuri to score the winning run.

Swallows 7, Dragons 3

Mitsuru Manaka went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and starter Masanori Ishikawa (5-5) pitched six solid innings for the win as Yakult beat Chunichi at Jingu Stadium.


Lions 9, Marines 1

Alex Cabrera went deep for the fourth straight game, whacking his 23rd homer of the season for two-runs in a six-run fifth, as Seibu beat Lotte at Seibu Dome.

Lefty starter Kazuyuki Hoashi (1-3) scattered five hits over six innings, allowing one run and walking two for his first win in two years.

Fighters 5, Hawks 3

Kazuteru Shimada drilled a two-run homer off Daiei reliever Shintaro Yoshitake (0-3) in the eighth inning for the go-ahead runs as Nippon Ham beat the PL-leading Hawks at Fukuoka Dome.

Buffaloes 18, BlueWave 6

Norihiro Nakamura slammed his 13th and 14th homers of the year and Tuffy Rhodes smashed a grand slam for his 24th home run as Kintetsu beat Orix in a seven-homer slugfest at Yahoo BB Stadium.

Giants pitcher Takahashi off roster

Yomiuri Giants southpaw Hisanori Takahashi, who was removed from the active roster over the weekend, was diagnosed with inflamed muscles in his left shoulder at a Tokyo hospital on Tuesday.

Takahashi left the mound after five innings of work in the game against the Hanshin Tigers on Saturday and complained of pain in his shoulder the day after.
