Tanishige off roster
NAGOYA (Kyodo) Chunichi Dragons catcher Motonobu Tanishige, who injured his left hamstring and was diagnosed with a minor strain in his muscle after a game on Tuesday, has been removed from the active roster, team officials said Saturday.
“It will be hard for (catcher Eiichi) Nakano to fill his shoes,” said Chunichi manager Hisashi Yamada of the seven-time All-Star. “We will have to do our best to score runs first without Tanishige in the game.”
Tanishige, who is expected to be out of action only for a short period, left Fujisakidai Stadium in Kumamoto Prefecture during a game against the Yokohama BayStars.
