Could The Japan Times please avoid writing stupid, obvious editorials and headlines like the one May 16, "Volunteer force declines." Of course, the post-Golden Week volunteer force declined in the Tohoku-Pacific disaster area after spiking during Golden Week. Everyone knew this would be a one-week period with a high number of volunteers, because people had holidays.

The editorial makes a good point, so why ruin it with a headline based on things everyone already knows? A good message is cheapened with garbage reasoning. You can do better.

The opinions expressed in this letter to the editor are the writer's own and do not necessarily reflect the policies of The Japan Times.
