Regarding the May 4 editorial, "Triple disaster and the Constitution": The nuclear plant disaster at Fukushima disaster is not over, and there will likely be other reactors in Japan and around the world that will meet the same fate because of the fact that there are 440 nuclear power plants globally and they were made to operate safely for only about 25 years.

Human error, old equipment and terrorism make nuclear energy an insane choice. Solar, wind and geothermal sources can now fill the nuclear gap and Japan can be a leader in that area.

It's time to wake up to a new world that does not include an energy source that, by its very nature, can and will poison the land that children are supposed to play on and people grow gardens in. The time to act is now.
