If “India can live without its tigers” because they are “violent disgusting creatures,” as Dipak Basu suggests in his June 28 letter, then Earth can do without Homo sapiens, the most destructive and pernicious animal to march, shoot, maim and kill, with the gall to yap incessantly of peace while preparing relentlessly for war and then proceed to butcher with patriotic glee. I’m for having 6 billion handsome, beautiful tigers on this planet and a few thousand of us in zoos.

Of course, my suggestion is fantastic in a world where barbaric policies pass for business as usual.
