On behalf of my family here in China, I would like to express my deep condolences to all the affected people in Saturday's strong (7.2-magnitude) earthquake in northeastern Japan.

I was very much impressed and touched by Japanese rescuers' compassion and professionalism when they dashed to Sichuan Province soon after the earthquake there last month.

Although many Chinese people like me will not be able to do anything for the Japanese people, I would like to let you know that we do care about the people caught in the natural disaster in your country. My heart and prayers go out from China to all those who were killed and injured Saturday.
