A woman and her three children were found dead with stab wounds after a fire at a house in the Togoshi district of Tokyo's Shinagawa Ward on Thursday.
Police received an emergency call at around 1:30 p.m. from a woman in her 60s saying that her family members had died in their house and were covered in soot.
Police officers found Fuyumi Takanami, 37, and her two daughters and son — Rin Goto, 6, Rei Goto, 3, and Shin Goto, 2 — lying on the floor of a bedroom on the first floor of the two-story house with multiple stab wounds on their bodies, including the chest, neck and back, according to investigative sources. They were confirmed dead at the scene and are suspected to have died from blood loss.
