An Okinawan-Hawaiian activist said Friday he plans to hold a rally in front of the White House on Jan. 7 to put pressure on President Donald Trump’s administration to intervene in the controversial relocation of a U.S. military base in Okinawa.

On Dec. 8 Robert Kajiwara, 32, started a petition, titled “Stop the landfill of Henoko/Oura Bay until a referendum can be held in Okinawa,” on the White House’s “We the People” petition website.
