A Japanese national was found dead in a hotel in Rawalpindi on Tuesday morning, police said.

Junior officer Mohammad Arshad at the Rawalpindi Cantonment Police Station said Akira Ota, as identified by his passport, had been staying in the hotel since Nov. 6.

The officer said initial evidence suggests he died of a heart attack, but that the cause of death would only be known after an autopsy was concluded.

Ota hails from Aichi Prefecture. He was in the business of exporting used cars from Japan, and had visited Pakistan several times. His Pakistani business associate Farhat Ali has been taken into custody for interrogation.
