Nissan Motor Co. is to recall 4,700 cars in South Korea, the country's transport ministry said Wednesday. The recall will affect the Altima and two other models.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said a device that detects a person sitting in the front passenger seat is defective, warning that it may prevent the air bag deploying in an accident.

The move came after the South Korean Environment Ministry on Tuesday ordered Nissan to recall 824 Qashqai sport utility vehicles, a model allegedly involved in emissions test cheating.

The Environment Ministry also said it filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office seeking a probe into Nissan's local unit and its head.
