The former editor of the website The Real Singapore who was sentenced last month to 10 months in prison for sedition began serving her sentence Friday.
"I'm OK, I'm ready for it," Japanese-Australian Ai Takagi said as she walked with her Singaporean husband, Yang Kaiheng, toward a court building from where a police van would transport her to Changi Women's Prison.
Takagi, 23, and Yang, 27, were both charged with seven counts of sedition last year for inciting ill will and hatred between different social classes of Singapore, and between Singaporeans and foreigners, through their now-defunct website.
