Japan's tallest Ferris wheel will begin operating July 1 at a commercial complex in Osaka, according to its operator, Ferris Wheel Investment Co.
At 123 meters, the Redhorse Osaka Wheel has 72 passenger cabins and takes around 18 minutes to complete one rotation. All the cabins have transparent floors and two — equipped with more luxurious seating and lighting — are designated as VIP cabins.
The new amusement ride surpasses Japan's current tallest Ferris wheel of 117 meters at Tokyo's Kasai Rinkai Park, the operator said.
The company said it has not decided on the price for a ride.
The Ferris wheel is located in the Expocity retail and entertainment complex in Suita, Osaka Prefecture. The complex opened last November in the Expo '70 Commemorative Park, the site of the 1970 World Exposition.
The commercial complex developed by Mitsui Fudosan Co. includes a shopping mall, cinemas and combined aquarium, zoo and museum.
