Starbucks Coffee Japan Ltd. is in talks to open its first store in Tottori Prefecture, the only prefecture without one of its coffee shops, according to a company official.

The official said Starbucks is searching for a location suitable for a store. The city of Tottori as well as Yonago and Sakaiminato are seen as candidates for an outlet by March 2015.

The coffee shop chain set a goal of having a store in every prefecture after reaching the 1,000 mark last September. The first Starbucks in Japan opened in Tokyo's Ginza district in 1996.
