New vehicle sales in November, excluding minivehicles, rose 13.3 percent from a year earlier to 276,399 units, marking the third straight month of increase, an industry body said Monday.

Car sales climbed 13.4 percent to 242,497 units, while truck sales gained 12.4 percent to 33,135 units and bus sales rose 4.9 percent to 767 units, according to the Japan Automobile Dealers Association.

Sales of minivehicles with engine displacement of up to 660cc grew 20.7 percent to 180,971 units in November, a record high for the month and up for the fifth consecutive month, the Japan Mini Vehicles Association said.
