Marubeni Corp. said it and partner Korea Electric Power Corp. have won a contract to build and operate a 1,200-megawatt coal-fired power plant in Vietnam.

The plant, to be built in Nghi Son, Thanh Hoa Province, an industrial area in central Vietnam, will sell its output to Vietnam Electricity Holding Co. for 25 years from 2018.

The project will be handled by a 50-50 joint venture comprising Marubeni and Korea Electric. Marubeni is building another 600-megawatt coal-fired power plant nearby.
