The Tokyo Metropolitan Government told the operator of Takano Yuri Beauty Clinic on Monday to halt its use of misleading advertisements.

Fuji Beauty Co. has been told to improve the way it markets its products and services after the company's newspaper inserts and website claimed it had a stem cell-based facial treatment that can rejuvenate skin cells.

The government said the clinic didn't provide a rational basis for the claim.

The Shibuya-based firm also made it appear that a special price would be available if purchasers beat the application deadline. In reality, the price remained the same regardless of timing, the metro government said.

In response to the notice, the company said that its advertising practices were corrected in January and that it would be careful to use appropriate expressions from now on.
