Toy maker Bandai Co. said Thursday it will launch a new series of scaled figures worldwide in the globally popular size of 12 inches (30.48 cm) starting in December as it looks to tap into overseas markets.

The series will include characters from the "Star Wars" movies, mainly targeting male customers in their 20s and 30s, the company said.

Bandai aims to sell a total of 20,000 units by March while also looking to promote the 12-inch figures to customers in Japan, where figures 12 to 16 cm in size are the most popular.

The first in the "12 Perfect Model" series will feature Wild Tiger, the main character in the animated TV series "Tiger & Bunny," priced at ¥26,250.

The robot C-3PO from "Star Wars" will be available in February for ¥33,600, with more characters to be added to the lineup later.
