Jiji Press Ltd. director Yutaka Nishizawa, 62, will soon replace Masahiro Nakata, 64, the news agency's president, who will resign to take responsibility for the copying of a Kyodo News report by a Jiji reporter.

The replacement will be finalized June 30 at a general shareholders' meeting and a subsequent board meeting, Jiji said Monday. The news agency decided late last month that Nakata would remain as president beyond June 30.

A Jiji reporter copied a Kyodo report from Washington on the payment of fines by a major Dutch bank to the U.S. government, including Kyodo in the dateline, on June 13.
