Overseas media on Wednesday reported that two Japanese nationals have been murdered overseas — a female cabin attendant strangled in Dubai and a Tokyoite who was stabbed more than 30 times in eastern Siberia.
In Dubai, the 28-year-old victim, who worked for a local airline, was found slain in a bathroom in her condominium in late April, according to local media reports.
Local investigators have detained a 29-year-old Tunisian man on suspicion of murder, the reports said.
The man was living with her and had reported her death to police.
In Tokyo, the Foreign Ministry said the body has already been repatriated but declined to reveal her identify at the request of her family.
In the Transbaikal region of eastern Siberia meanwhile, a man identified from his passport as Koichi Onita, a 30-year-old Tokyo resident, was found dead on a road Tuesday following a frenzied knife attack.
The Japanese Consulate General in Khabarovsk is still working to confirm the deceased's identity.
Local police found a Suzuki motorcycle, cash, a mobile phone, clothing and a tent near his bloodstained corpse, indicating he may have been slain while traveling around the area, local investigative authorities said.
