Law enforcement authorities in California have arrested and indicted a 32-year-old Japanese diplomat on charges of domestic violence against his wife over a string of incidents that left her with injuries, including a broken tooth.

Yoshiaki Nagaya, vice counsel at the Japanese Consulate-General in San Francisco, assaulted his wife by stomping on her at their home near San Francisco and throwing her out of a car sometime between January last year and March this year, according to U.S. media reports and consulate officials.
