MHI gets Finland reactor study deal

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. said it has received an order to conduct a feasibility study for a planned nuclear reactor in Finland, and aims to win a contract for its pressurized water reactor.

Mitsubishi said Monday it will conduct the study to confirm whether its EU-APWR pressurized water reactor fulfills engineering, procurement and construction requirements in Finland.

Teollisuuden Voima Oyj, a Finnish nonlisted public electricity producer, plans to build a fourth nuclear reactor at the Olkiluoto nuclear plant on Olkiluoto Island, just offshore in the Gulf of Bothnia in southwestern Finland, and will submit a formal application for a construction license in the middle of 2015 at the latest.
